The legend says that there was a standing Buddha statue exactly in the same place. But fifty years back it toppled over and thus replaced by a reclining version. The Buddha is housed in a giant metal shed. There are various inscriptions all-around that depict various symbols of Buddha

A visit to the local Market:

While you are at Myanmar the local market is to be visited. The local market offers a view of local life. The street outlets offer various local foods. The most famous street market is located in street 26near Shri Kali Temple. This market is popularly called the Thein Gyi Market. The interesting part of the market is that the vendors sell the items in the middle of the road and when a vehicle comes they scurry with products to give way to the vehicle. The market is a real good place to visit. Tasting Burmese cuisine offered by the sellers is the best thing one can do while at Myanmar.

A visit to Sule Pagoda:

One very famous landmark of Burma is the Sule Pagoda. The Pagoda is a historical site. One striking feature is that all the roads downtown seem to lead towards the pagoda. Numerous government buildings and offices are located in the area.
